The NLEX Road Warriors head into their next matchup with growing confidence after securing a hard-earned 84–81 victory over the Blackwater Bossing in the opening stretch of the Philippine Basketball Association Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup. Their next challenge comes against the Magnolia Hotshots at the Ynares Center, where NLEX hopes to extend its momentum and secure its second straight win.
The Road Warriors’ opening victory was far from easy. They spent much of the game chasing the Bossing before delivering a clutch finish. Veteran guard Robert Bolick emerged as the hero, knocking down a crucial three-pointer late in the game that sealed the win. Meanwhile, import Cady Lalanne delivered a strong double-double performance with 22 points and 16 rebounds while battling inside against Blackwater import Daniel Ochefu, who also posted 16 points and 16 boards.

On the other side, Magnolia enters the matchup eager to recover after suffering a narrow 101–98 defeat against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters. The loss served as a tough start for the Hotshots, but they remain a dangerous contender capable of quickly turning things around.
Historically, Magnolia holds a slight edge in recent meetings with NLEX. During the previous PBA Philippine Cup eliminations, both teams finished with identical 6–5 records, but the Hotshots secured the higher seeding thanks to a convincing 98–82 win over the Road Warriors.
